NAIT Defeats The Vikings in Overtime

Saturday night was senior night at NAIT as the Ooks hosted the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings. Both teams well played the game, and in the end, NAIT came out with the victory.

It was tightly checked in the first period. It wasn't until the final three minutes that Augustana put home the game's first goal on the powerplay from Jake Gudjonson.

Things picked up physically in the second as both teams increased the intensity in the one-goal game. It was the goalies, though, stealing the spotlight of the period with both Jordan Papirny and Daniel Moody standing tall and shutting the door in the second. Shots after two are 19 to 14 for NAIT.

The physicality continued into the third as both teams badly wanted to win this game. Early into the third, though, Eric Lacombe scored for NAIT, broke the seal, and tied the game up at 1. Both teams continued to apply pressure, but nothing would break, so we moved to overtime.

1-1 after three.

Just after a minute into four on four overtime, Dalton Hamaliuk scored the winner and completed the comeback for NAIT on the powerplay.
