CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 4, 2022) - Goals were not hard to come by Friday night at SAIT Arena.
The SAIT Trojans hosted the Concordia University of Thunder, and it was the hosts who came out on top with an 8-5 decision in a game they led 5-0 at one point.
SAIT improves to 5-3-0-1 on the year, while Concordia loses for the first time this season to now sit at 6-1.
After taking a 5-0 lead, the Thunder were able to chip away at the lead with four unanswered markers - one late in the first period, two in the second and one to start the third.
The Trojans stopped the bleeding when Carson Welke scored a powerplay goal that ended up as the game winner. Welke, along with his twin brother McKenzie, each scored twice in the contest.
Also scoring for the Trojans were Joe Karpyshyn, Joren Patenaude, Zachary Huber and Mark Drohan. Drohan ended the contest with an amazing six points (1g, 5a) to be named his team's Player of the Game.
