Jared Legien Honoured as 2019-20 ACAC Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Year

EDMONTON, AB (March 20, 2020) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Jared Legien of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2019-20 ACAC Men's Hockey Rookie of the Year.

In Jared's first year with the NAIT Ooks, he made his presence known as he recorded 32 goals and 16 assists (48 points) in just 28 games, finishing second only to teammate Jake Mykitiuk in overall league scoring. Legien's 32 goals led the league, winning the scoring race by 13.

"Jared puts himself in the right position to score, and he showed strong chemistry with his fellow linemates this past season along with his desire to score. He scored on an over a goal game pace, that is something Jared should be proud of," said Tim Fragle, NAIT men's hockey head coach.

Jared was named to the ACAC all-conference first team. The Pilot Butte, SK., native, is in the Millwork & Carpentry program and has a 3.7 GPA, which earned him the status of ACAC Academic All-Canadian.

The award was not presented due to COVID-19 canceling the remainder of the ACAC playoffs.
