Augustana takes the weekend against Briercrest

The Briercrest Clippers face off against the Augustana Vikings for game two Saturday at Barkman Arena. The teams faced off last night, where Augustana came out with an 8-4 over Briercrest. 

The 1st period started with both teams playing a more physical game compared to the Friday night before. Briercrest first to receive a penalty at 3:00, a charging call on #5 Halen Cordoni; giving Augustana power play opportunity to score at 4:41 #97 Dillan McCombie, assist by #11 Owen Sobchak and #51 Jimmy Sheehan. Augustana player #24 Cody Fiala next to receive a penalty at 14:20, 2 minutes for roughing, giving Briercrest a power play opportunity. Briercrest working offensively but is unable to sink one in the net.  The 1st period concludes with Augustana leading Briercrest 1-0, shots on goal 14-4 in favour of Augustana.

The 2nd period starts out with Augustana extending the lead at 1:22, goal by #24 Cody Fiala, assist #97 Dillan McCombie and #14 Ryan Groom, and soon followed by a third goal at 2:32 by #5 Logan Sproule, assisted to #17 Adam Oscevski and #96 Jarod Hovde; making the score 3-0 for Augustana. Briercrest receiving a roughing penalty at 4:55, #27 Chad Davidson; giving Augustana another power play opportunity to score at 6:01 by #10 Carter Danczak assisted by #11 Owen Sobchak and #16 Evan Warmington. Augustana receives a penalty at halfway through the 2nd period 10:03 for hooking —#9 Tavis Roch for hooking. Briercrest penalty at 12:55 #20 Russell Olsen for charging; and a late penalty called on #7 Josh Mitton, 2 minutes for check from behind and 10 minute game misconduct, giving Augustana a goal at 17:58— goal by #22 Travis Mayan assisted by #96 Jarod Hovde and #26 Taylor Armbruster. The 2nd period ends with a score 5-0 for Augustana, shots on goal 17 for Augustana and 10 for Briercrest.

The 3rd period starts with a Briercrest penalty at 1:33 for slashing— #4 Ryley Cribbin. Augustana extends the score to 6-0 at 10:39; goal scored by #91 Cody Young, assisted to #21 Paul Lovsin and #25 Reed Gunville. Two more penalties handed out in the third period; Briercrest player #27 Chad Davidson for high stick at 14:12 and Augustana player #25 Reed Gunville for slashing at 19:13. The final score of the game 6-0 for Augustana; shots on goal 46-18 in favour of Augustana. 

Briercrest player of the game #5 Halen Cordoni, when asked where they lacked compared to Friday, saying "We lacked on the power play, we definitely didn't have the same speed and relied on Dan [Dekoning] a lot during the game". Player of the game for Augustana was #97 Dillan McCombie, who had 1 goal, and one assist.
