Kodiaks win big over Rattlers in the Snake Pit

The First Place Lethbridge Kodiaks headed into the Snake Pit to take on the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. The Kodiaks were first to strike after a pair of stops on both ends. From here they exploded with 2 steals and quick baskets going up 7-0 in less than 2 minutes. The Rattlers called a timeout and came out of the break hitting a 3 to open their scoring. A defensive stop and another 3 saw the Rattlers within one. A hard drive to the lane after a Kodiak miss saw the Rattlers take a one point lead. This was quickly erased by the Kodiaks going 1 for 2 from the line. Medicine Hat quickly scored again and was able to hold a 2 point lead. Answering with a 3 the Kodiaks re took their lead. A miss from the Rattlers and another Kodiak 3 saw them go up 14-10. The back and forth game continued but the Kodiaks were hitting key shots while the Rattlers came up empty on several attempts. With this the Kodiaks were able to create a lead of 22-15 with a minute on the clock. A late Kodiak 3 and a Rattler miss saw the Kodiaks leading 25-15 at the break. 

The second quarter opened with a Kodiak 3 further expanding their lead. The Rattlers answered with 2 of their own. The Kodiaks continued to be almost perfect offensively while the Rattlers once again failed to find points on 2 of 3 possessions. The Rattlers went ice cold and the Kodiaks continued to score opening a 38-17 lead. The Rattlers scored 2 in a row to start to chip away, but the Kodiaks continued to not miss on offence. The Kodiaks were nailing deep threes and keeping the Rattlers off the board. Doubling their score, the Kodiaks led 48-24 with 2:17 on the clock. The Kodiaks sold a few fouls and got to the line late going up 57-28 at the half. 

The second half started with a pair of stops on both ends early. From here the teams settled in and started trading baskets. The Kodiaks still held a massive lead. They increased it to 30, going up 63-33 with half of the quarter left. The Rattlers were able to get into Bonus with 3:30 left in the quarter and looked to get to the line to gain some advantage. The Kodiaks however were the ones still controlling the pace and dictating the game. They continued to dominate ending the quarter up 76-43.

The Fourth quarter started with both teams missing on their first 2 possessions. The Kodiaks scored first with a 3 a, while the Rattlers looked inside to answer. The game continued slowly as whistles plagued the quarter with everything being blown dead. The Kodiaks were up 91-52 with 4:33 on the clock forcing the Rattlers to take a timeout. From here the play began to see the time tick down quickly both teams were using the entire shot clock, but the misses were coming from both sides now. As the final seconds ran off the Kodiaks had won 97-5.
