The visitors made it tough, but the Rustlers were able to make get back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
St. Mary's entered the matchup 2-1 after losing to the Huskies, while the home side was fresh off a huge win the previous afternoon. Early on, the two squads traded baskets, with the Rustlers leading 26-24 after the 1st quarter. The Lightning took over late in the 2nd to jump ahead 54-52 at the half, with plenty of drama in the dying minutes.
Lakeland's defence clamped down in the 3rd quarter, holding St. Mary's to just 9 points. However, the Lightning didn't go quietly, cutting the lead to 2 with less than 100 seconds remaining. Then, Desmond Price knocked down a huge 3-pointer for the Rustlers, allowing them to ride out several trips to the free throw line in the 102-94 victory.
Price and Brock Dewsbery (26 points) were the POG's.
Next, Lakeland will be off for a weekend ebfore going on the road to take on the Olds Broncos Nov. 18.
