Men's Basketball Huskies charge past Trojans on home court

The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team charged past the SAIT Trojans Saturday, winning 84-54 in a rematch of the 2022 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) Championship game. 

Taking a 20-13 lead after the first quarter, the Huskies retained a two-point edge at halftime. In the second half, the Huskies' offence and defence came to shine, outscoring the Trojans 23-11 in the third quarter and 26-10 in the fourth to close out the 30-point win. 

Four Huskies finished in double digits, led by Jusci Thompson's 22 points that included eight free throws. Taliik Ross was a rebounding machine, compiling his second double-double in as many days with 17 points and 18 rebounds to earn Player of the Game honours for the winning side. Sean-Michael Clancey also joined him in the weekend club of a pair of double doubles, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Omeechi Williams made it a trio of double-double performances with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

A quartet of Trojans finished tied for the team lead with 10 points each. Wol Wol, Kuol Kuol, Charlie Conner, and Marcus Masters all reached the 10-point mark, with Wol earning Player of the Game honours for the visiting side. 

Overall, the Huskies shot 35.5 percent from the field, making five three-point shots on the day. The Huskies made good on 25 of 33 free-throw attempts. 

The visiting Trojans shot 26.8 percent from the field, making four three-point shots. They added 20 points through free throws in the course of the game.
