Men's Basketball Huskies charge ahead in second half to top Rustlers
The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team held a slim four-point lead at the half, but erupted in the second half to earn a 103-69 victory against the Lakeland Rustlers Friday night at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.
With the Huskies ahead 48-44, the home side reeled off a 36-point third quarter and then outscored their opponents by four in the final frame to secure the win.
Omeechi Williams drained 27 points for the home side, including a team-leading five of the team's 18 three-pointers. Sean-Michael Clancey matched Williams with five three-point shots of his own, ultimately finishing with 23 points on the productive night.
Taliik Ross had 16 points, Jusci Thompson added 15, and Nathan Carefoote-Jones had 11 points to make it into double digits on the day.
Shaquai Manswell led his side with 20 points while John Mims had 16 and Noah Horobetz Simpson had 13. De'Andre Anderson made it a quartet of Rustlers in double digits with 10 points.
Williams earned Player of the Game honours for the Huskies while Simpson earned the honours for the visiting Rustlers.
The two sides will face each other in a rematch Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
