CALGARY, ALTA., (March 12, 2022) - The Lakekland College Rustlers held off a late-charging Red Deer Polytechnic Kings squad to earn an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) bronze medal.

The narrow 82-79 victory came Saturday night at SAIT's Campus Centre, giving the Rustlers their first ACAC medal since winning the silver medal in the 2017-18 at Lethbridge College.

Lakeland got out to an early lead in the game, leading 26-15 after the first 10 minutes of play. The next two quarters were evenly matched, with Red Deer not doing enough to put a dent into the lead.

That changed in the fourth, when they exploded for 33 points in the last 10 minutes - getting a combined 23 from fifth-year seniors Tyronn King and Cody White.

When all was said and done, Lakeland survived the rally and took home the bronze.

Shaquai Manswell led the Rustlers with 23 points while King paced his Kings with 23.
