Clippers Clutch Playoff Spot in Intense Win Over Broncos
The Clippers and Broncos traded baskets at the beginning of the first quarter. While both teams were able to find looks it was the Broncos team that found themselves in the lead at the middle of the 1st quarter, leading 12-4. A time-out was called by the Clippers with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter. The Clippers with 3 minutes left made a great run down the court and cut the lead by 5 with the score being 12-7. There was fury of scoring in the last minute of the quarter by the Broncos and the score was 20-7 in favor of the Broncos.
At the beginning of the 2nd quarter the Broncos kept up their aggressive offensive run, scoring first. The Clippers had many great looks but were unable to score in the first couple minutes of the game until a 3-point shot. The Broncos scored another three baskets unanswered, but right after the Clippers were able to score 7 points to help close the gap. With just over 5 minutes until the half the score was 17-27 for the Broncos. With just 2 minutes left in the game the Clippers were chasing hard to close the gap to within 5 points. The score at the half was 35-30 for the Broncos.
To start the 2nd half of this game the Clippers kept up their offensive pace. The teams then traded turnovers but neither team was able to score. The Clippers closed in on the score after just 3 mins of play, making the score 42-40. They traded baskets, but eventually the Clippers closed to within 1 point with just over 4 minutes left to play in the 3rd quarter of the game. The lead then changed hands with 3 mins left in the 3rd quarter. The score was 53-49 with the Clippers in the lead. Baskets were traded to end the 3rd, making the score 60-56 for the Clippers.
The fourth quarter was marked by intense back and forth action, with tensions high and emotions even higher. While the Clippers were up at the start of the game, their lead seemed to be insecure throughout the quarter. #14 Adrian Deere for Olds College did his best to win the game for his team, scoring most of the baskets for the Broncos. Despite this, the Clippers were able to hold on by pure heart and determination. The score at the end of the game was 81-78 for the Clippers.
The players of the game awards were given to #14 Adrian Deere for Olds who finished with 35 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and #5 Corbin Gengenbach who finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 steal.
