OLDS, Alta. - The SAIT Trojans asserted their dominance in the second half, beating the Olds College Broncos 109-76 at the Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday.

The game was a rematch of Friday's tightly-contested affair, where the Broncos won 81-80 in Calgary to hand SAIT their first loss of the season.

John Smith lit up the scoresheet for the Trojans (14-1), finishing with a season-high 42 points, including 10 three-pointers. Nicholas Molina also enjoyed a solid evening for SAIT, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Karan Gill led the Broncos (5-10) with 17 points and four assists, while Linden Jackson contributed 16 points, six rebounds and six assists off the bench, and Terence Crisostomo added 16 points of his own.

Smith and Gill earned player of the game honours for their respective teams.

The Broncos enjoyed a strong start to the game, opening up a 20-11 lead just over seven minutes in. However, SAIT pushed back with a 9-2 run, cutting the Olds College lead to 22-20 through one quarter.

The second saw more of the same as both teams traded points and momentum, with the Trojans taking a slim 45-44 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In a game of two halves, SAIT came out firing to start the third quarter, opening with an 11-3 run spanning 1:41, then closing on a 15-2 run over a 3:50 span to end the frame up 81-62, punctuated by a buzzer-beating three from Molina.

The Broncos have a bye next week, as they host the Red Deer College Queens on Friday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m., while SAIT will host the St. Mary's University Lightning on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m.
