Clippers taken out by the Lions in a thriller

CARONPORT, SK- The Briercrest Clippers and the Ambrose Lions faced each other in a rivalry game Friday night in a 68-73 thriller win for Ambrose.

Off the ball the Clippers and Lions started in a back and forth game, the Lions picked up momentum and carried this into the end half of the first quarter coming to a 13-25 start.

Starting the second quarter off, the Lions looked to push their lead, but the Clippers found synergy and put some closure with the score being 24-29 with 5:09 left in the second. The rest of this quarter was a consistent battle finishing off with a Lions lead 35-42.

In the third, the Clippers trailed the Lions lead creating a tense and tight game between the two teams. By the end of the quarter the score was 49-58 for Ambrose.

In the last quarter of play the game stayed tight, the Clippers slowly creeping up on the Lions. With 2:55 left to play, the game turned into a thriller with the score being 63-66 for the Lions. The crowd intensified, and the game was all who wanted it more. With 21.2 seconds left #10 Amiel Deslos Reyes for the Clippers hit a three and pushed the score to 68-70. #10 Isaac Grey for Ambrose hit 1 of 2 free throws adding the Lions score to 68-71, but the Clippers could not clutch through and lost 68-73 to the Lions.

Player of the game for the Clippers was #5 CJ Greer with 19 points, 4 assists and 7 rebounds. For the Lions #8 Matt Fransisco obtained player of the game with 18 points.
