Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings hosted the Grand Prairie Wolves in the first game of the new semester. The Vikings picked up the win with a final score of 94-84.
After a close first quarter the Vikings had a slight lead of 24-18 over the Wolves. The second period saw the Wolves outscore the Vikings 27-19 and lead 45-43 going into the second half. In the third quarter the Vikings outscored the Wolves by 10 to lead 67-59 heading into the last ten minutes of play. The last ten minutes saw the Wolves pick up their scoring, however the Vikings maintained their lead for a final score of 94-84.
On the Grand Prairie side fourth year guard, Payton Tirrell, was awarded Player of the Game with 34 points and 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Augustana Vikings second year guard, Mason Hunter, picked up the Player of the Game Award with 18 points and 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
The two teams complete their back-to-back tomorrow, January 12th with tip-off at 1pm for the women and the men to follow.
