Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference "To be Canada's premiere collegiate athletic conference by developing and inspiring leadership through excellence in academics, sport and citizenship"

Make some Noise

In what had to be the loudest men's basketball game in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference history, the visiting Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder edged the host Keyano College Huskies 76-73.

The noise factor was raised more than a few notches, due to the fact that a Back To The 80s YMM / Battle Of The Legends concert started at 8 p.m. in one of the field houses at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre (SSWC).

Although the Canadian National Resources Ltd. Gymnasium is separated from the concert by an indoor soccer pitch...the musical vibrations could be heard and felt throughout the men's game.

In fact, there was a slight mist hovering over the court for the second half....special effects from the concert having floated over.

Tied at 35-35 after 20 minutes, the Huskies were outscored 27-18 in the third quarter.

A spectacular breakaway dunk by Huskies' Stefan Jovic with 1:14 in regulation brought the home team within a point 72-71.

Ronald Bacon Jr. making two out of four free throw attempts in the final seconds secured the win for the Thunder.

Jovic was Huskies nod for Player of the Game honours with 17 points, nine rebound and two steals in 34 minutes. D'Aubre Doucette added 17 points to go along with two steals and six boards.

Thunder Player of the Game Ryan McLaren, hitting a game high 30 points to go along with 14 boards
