Feb. 17, 2018 – Keanu Funa had 19 points and Sini Atoa added fifteen as the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men's basketball team dominated the St. Mary's Lightning 94-58 in their final regular season home game.
After narrowly defeating the Lightning in Calgary last night, the Kodiaks flipped a switch and found a new gear offensively to deliver their most convincing win of the season. Lethbridge effectively put the game away early with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Lightning 33-9 to take a 34-point lead into half.
As is most often the case, the key to the Kodiaks offensive attack was their strong defensive pressure. The Kodiaks capitalized on their 14 steals, pouring in 33 points off turnovers.
Lethbridge also found their groove from distance, scoring nine buckets from beyond the arc while shooting 42%.
Cordell Minnifee led St. Mary's with 11 points while Alex Cliché added nine.
St. Mary's (4-15) will now conclude their season with a weekend home-and-home against Red Deer College. Lethbridge (11-8) will now head to Briercrest to finish the regular season with two road games against the Clippers.
Players of the Week:
