Feb. 13, 2018 – The Kodiaks sent an emphatic statement to the rest of the ACAC with a huge 85-73 win over the nationally fourth ranked SAIT Trojans on Tuesday night.
Lethbridge rode hot shooting from Keanu Funa to their biggest win of the season. Funa, a sophomore, hit five three pointers including three consecutive in the fourth quarter that put the game away.
SAIT came out hard and built an early lead using their advantage down low, but Lethbridge found their scoring touch and rallied for a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. The Kodiaks played lock down defence in the first half as a whole, allowing the Trojans just 23 points in the opening two quarters while taking a 36-23 lead at half.
The Trojans pushed hard in the third and cut the Kodiaks lead to seven in the third quarter. Yet every time SAIT threatened to draw closer, the Kodiaks were able to get a huge shot to fall, something they have struggled with at times all season.
Grady Taylor added 16 points while Michael Clemons had 13 assists for the Kodiaks.
Charlie Conner and Gemie Muya-ntalaja each led SAIT with 15 points.
