MBB | Lions ride shooting to victory over Kodiaks

Looking to bounce back after a tough defeat to Red Deer last week, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men's basketball team had high hopes for a strong finish to the semester at home on Saturday night.

Instead, it was the visiting Ambrose Lions who roared out to an early lead and never looked back.

Riding the strength of 11 three pointers and 50% shooting, the Lions improved to above .500 with a commanding 86-73 victory at the Val Matteotti Gym.

Ambrose fired on all cylinders early with a 28 point first quarter, and led by as much as 16 in the second quarter. With the Lions poised to take complete control of the game, a spirited Kodiaks rally to close the first half cut the deficit to five at halftime.

Lethbridge was unable to sustain momentum in the second half, however, as Ambrose was able to recover every time Lethbridge threatened to close the gap.

Marcus Harris was an offensive force for the Broncos, going 7-8 from beyond the arc and finishing with a game high 26 points. Josh Daniel poured in 15 points of his own, while Brayden Daniel had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Cole Crick led the Kodiaks with 14 points, while Trey Bohne had 11 points off the bench.

The Kodiaks will now have an extended break, with their next conference action taking place on Jan. 12 when they host the Red Deer Kings. Ambrose will also be back in action on that date when they visit Briercrest.
