Kings and Queens too strong for the Lions

It was a tough night for both the men's and women's basketball teams in the Lion's Den on Friday, November 25.

The women lost 75-48 to the Red Deer College Queens. Player of the game for the Lions was #22 Amie Spiers, who played a great game, shooting 5/10 from the field for 12 points and 4 rebounds. The women played hard but struggled to hit 3 pointers which contributed to them only scoring 48 points.

The men's game was closer and the first half was very competitive. The size and rebounding of the King's frontcourt of Matt Matear and Shayne Stumpf proved too much for the lions as those 2 players combined for 41 points and 22 rebounds. Player of the game for the Lion's was Marcus Harris who had 18 points and 5 rebounds. The Red Deer Kings shot 52% from the field as a team while the Lion's hit just 30.1% of their shots. That was the story of the game for the Lions, who struggled to overcome the size of the Kings.

The Lions are capable of better performances and we look forward to the New Year.
