FIESTY KODIAKS PROVE TO BE TOO MUCH FOR THE LIONS
The Lions offense unable to find it's groove leads to a disappointing finish, as they lose to the Kodiaks 87 – 69.
A back and forth 1st quarter saw the Lions maintain striking distance as they trailed 20-17. To start the 2nd, the Lions were charged with 4 quick fouls within the first 3 min which forced them to make some changes on how they played in the defensive zone. The Kodiaks continued to push offensively and by halftime they were able to increase their lead to 9, leading by a score of 41-30.
It was night where although able to obtain some open looks, shots were not falling for the Lions. Ambrose shot only 34.8% from the field, compared to 53.8% for the Kodiaks. Helping the Kodiaks shooting percentage, was their ability to establish themselves in the paint in large part due to the play of their Player of the Game, Chris Maughan who added 25 points of his own points to the Kodiaks total.
While Kelloway and Swiednicki both hit big 3's in the 4th quarter trying to spark the Lions offense, Ambrose was unable to claw all the way back and complete the come from behind victory. #23 - Blake Seebach was the Lions Player of the Game scoring 14 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.
Next week Ambrose will look to improve their shooting as they take on Red Deer at home on Friday and will travel to Olds on Saturday to take on the Broncos.
