Kodiak Men Victorious Over Lightning

November 17th, 2016…Calgary- The Lethbridge men's basketball team defeated the St. Mary's University Lightning in a 86-63 win Friday night in Calgary.

First quarter action saw a tight matchup between the Kodiaks (1-2) and the Lightning, who were still in search of their first win of the season with an 0-5 record heading into tonight's game. Both teams saw plenty of end-to-end action, ending the first quarter deadlocked at 13 a piece.
 
Despite keeping up with the Kodiaks through the first, things to a turn for the Lightning in the second quarter, with Lethbridge adding 33 points to their total, while the Lightning were kept to just 13.  The Kodiaks would end the half with a commanding 46-26 lead.
 
The Kodiaks would continue to dominate the remainder of the second half, eventually taking the 86-63 win.
Cory Richardson(3rd year, Business, Burnbury, Aus.) led the Kodiaks with 16 points on the night, while Grady Taylor (3rd year, Criminal Justice Policing, Magrath) and Chris Maughan (4th year, Business, Queen Creek, AZ) each contributed 14.
Jordan Britton (1st year, Psychology, Drumheller) netted 24 points for the Lightning, while Brad Hassall (3rd year, General Studies, Melbourne, Aus.) added 17, including going 5-11 from the three point arc.
 
With the victory, the Kodiaks improve to 2-2 on their season, while the Lightning drop to 0-6.
 
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Player of the Game were presented to Lethbridge's Robert Miles III (5th year, General Studies, Las Vegas, NV) and St. Mary's top scorer Jordan Britton.
