ACAC Curling Winter Regional Recap - Friday, January 16 – Opening Day

Edmonton, AB - The 2025–26 ACAC Curling Winter Regional at the Thistle Curling Club, hosted by NAIT, featured three days of competitive play across the men's, women's, and mixed divisions.

Friday, January 16 – Opening Day

Men's Division

Friday opened with two draws of men's round-robin play. Concordia began the weekend with a controlled 6–3 win over Augustana, while NAIT made an early statement with a 10–3 victory against Red Deer Polytechnic. The closest contest of the draw saw Lakeland edge SAIT 9–7.

Women's Division

The women's opening draw featured several competitive games. Lakeland narrowly defeated Red Deer Polytechnic 7–5, while SAIT earned a tight 5–3 win over Concordia. Augustana closed the draw with a decisive 12–5 victory against NAIT.

The second draw continued the rotation, with Lakeland posting a 9–4 win over Portage College. SAIT delivered one of the day's most dominant performances, defeating Augustana 11–3, while Red Deer Polytechnic earned a convincing 10–2 win over NAIT.

Mixed Division

Mixed play opened with NAIT recording an 8–0 shutout over Concordia, while Lakeland defeated SAIT 6–2. In the second mixed draw, Concordia forfeited to SAIT, and Lakeland capped off the day with a dominant 12–1 win over NAIT.
