2024 ACAC Curling Fall Regionals
Camrose, AB – The 2024 ACAC Curling season launched in style this past weekend with the Fall Regionals held at the Rose City Curling Club, hosted by the University of Alberta–Augustana Vikings. The three-day event featured 16 teams competing across the Men's, Women's, and Mixed divisions.
Women's Division
The competition was fierce, with all divisions showcasing balanced play. However, the Women's division saw the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens dominate, finishing the round-robin undefeated at 5-0. Trailing closely, last year's national finalists, the SAIT Trojans, posted a 4-1 record, while the Concordia Thunder rounded out the top contenders at 3-2.
Men's Division
The Men's division ended with a three-way tie at the top of the standings, as the SAIT Trojans, Red Deer Kings, and Lakeland Rustlers each closed the weekend with 3-1 records. With only four teams advancing to the ACAC Championships, the NAIT Ooks (1-3) and host Augustana Vikings (0-4) face increased pressure heading into the Winter Regionals.
Mixed Division
In the Mixed division, Red Deer Polytechnic and the SAIT Trojans shared the lead with identical 3-1 records. A narrow 4-3 victory by Red Deer over SAIT in their head-to-head matchup highlighted the weekend's action. The Lakeland Rustlers and Concordia Thunder finished even at 2-2, while the Portage Voyageurs remained winless at 0-4.
The season continues with the Winter Regionals, hosted by Concordia Thunder at the Thistle Curling Club from January 17–19. The ACAC Conference Championships will follow at the Red Deer Curling Club from February 7–9, hosted by the Red Deer Kings and Queens.
