2023 ACAC Curling Coach of the Year
Edmonton, AB (March 8, 2023) -
Coach of the Year: Shannon Kleibrink
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Shannon Kleibrink of the SAIT Trojans has been named the ACAC Curling Coach of the Year.
In her second season at the helm, Kleibrink coached the Trojans men’s side to a combined 6-2 record in the standings – including going a perfect 5-0 at the Fall Regional hosted by SAIT. Kleibrink also helped the Trojans field their first women’s team since re-joining the ACAC in the 2019-20 season.
The award makes the Olympic bronze medalist the first woman to win ACAC Curling Coach of the Year since Caryl Sallows was honoured back in 2009-10 while with Northwestern Polytechnic - known then as Grande Prairie Regional College.
“We are very fortunate to have Coach Kleibrink lead our curling program. She has been able to work with curlers both new to the game and those with years of experience to turn them into teams that will contend for an ACAC medal and have fun doing so,” said SAIT’s Director of Athletics, Wade Kolmel. “We congratulate her on this great honour and look forward to working with her to further improve our curling program.”
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2023 ACAC Curling Championship hosted by Lakeland College in Vermilion, AB.
