EDMONTON, Alta. –The NAIT Ooks dethroned the defending champion Concordia Thunder to claim the ACAC Badminton Team Championship on Saturday afternoon in the NAIT Gymnasium

The first day of the ACAC Badminton Championships featured the team event. In the semifinals, the first place Concordia Thunder defeated the fourth-place Olds Broncos 4-0. In the other semifinal, the King's Eagles fell to the host NAIT Ooks 4-0.

In the gold medal match, the Ooks jumped out to an early 3-1 lead over the defending champion Concordia Thunder. In the fifth match, Roymond Kim and Eyota Kwan defeated Nicolas Pittman 2-1 (14-21, 21-14, 21-18), to claim the ACAC Team Championship. The King's Eagles claimed bronze as they defeated the Olds Broncos 4-2.

The teams will now attend the ACAC Badminton All-Conference banquet, before returning to the NAIT gymnasium to compete in the individual portion of the event.
