Mizuno Midsummer 5K

Edmonton, AB — The 16th annual Mizuno Midsummer 5K is set to return this summer as a hybrid event, giving runners across Canada the opportunity to participate either virtually or in person while supporting the Concordia Thunder Cross Country and Indoor Track teams.

The virtual event will run from Thursday, July 9 through Sunday, July 12, 2026, allowing participants to complete the 5K from anywhere in Canada. The in-person event will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Goldbar Park in Edmonton, Alberta.

Participants who register before June 1 can take advantage of the special $105 registration rate by using promo code “ACAC.” Every 5K participant will receive a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 29 running shoes and a pair of GoodR sunglasses, with a combined retail value of over $200.

Available shoe sizes include:

  • Ladies: sizes 6–11 (standard B width)
  • Men’s: sizes 8–12 and 13 (standard D width)

Participants can also choose from 11 different colours of GoodR sunglasses.

For runners located outside of Edmonton, race packages will be shipped to their nearest Running Room store for pickup.

The event will once again feature competitive prize opportunities, including:

  • Great prizes from Mizuno for the top three finishers in each age category:
    • Under 20
    • 20–39
    • 40–49
    • 50–59
    • 60+

Participants from anywhere in Canada are eligible for age group prizes, provided they submit a GPS tracking link through platforms such as Strava, Garmin, or MapMyRun.

In addition, the in-person event at Goldbar Park will feature cash prizes for the top open finishers:

  • 1st Place: $200
  • 2nd Place: $100
  • 3rd Place: $50

Cash prizes will be awarded to both the top three overall men’s and women’s finishers.

To ensure an easy and enjoyable race experience, organizers will have the Goldbar Park course clearly marked with chalk and signage on race day.

Participants in the Kids 1K in-person event at Goldbar Park will receive a finisher’s medal.

Following the event, participants will receive a Google Form by email to submit their results. Official race results will be posted Sunday evening after 8:00 p.m. MST.

The Mizuno Midsummer 5K continues to be a staple summer running event while raising important support for student-athletes competing with the Concordia Thunder Cross Country and Indoor Track programs.
