MEN'S HOCKEY SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVER AWARD RECIPIENT, ZACH CAIN:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Zach Cain of the SAIT Trojans as the ACAC Men’s Hockey Top Scholastic Achiever Award for the 2025-2026 season.

Zach Cain is the epitome of a student‑athlete, earning the ACAC Scholastic Achiever Award through his ability to excel both in the classroom and on the ice. A third‑year student‑athlete enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration program; Zach has demonstrated exceptional discipline and commitment while balancing the academic demands of his program with the responsibilities of competing at the collegiate hockey level. His consistent success across both areas reflects strong time management, focus, and a dedication to personal excellence.

As captain of the Trojans Men’s Hockey team, Zach leads by example and sets the standard for professionalism, accountability, and work ethic. During the 2025-26 regular season, he recorded 33 points, including 10 goals and 23 assists, finishing fifth in the ACAC in assists this season. His ability to contribute offensively while fulfilling a leadership role highlights his well‑rounded impact on the team. Zach’s vision, consistency, and hockey intelligence made him a reliable presence in all situations, earning the trust of both teammates and coaching staff.

Beyond statistics and accolades, Zach’s true impact lies in his character and approach to leadership. He represents the values of the Trojans program through his commitment to growth, respect for his teammates, and dedication to academic success. The ACAC Scholastic Achiever Award recognizes not only Zach’s strong academic standing and athletic performance, but also his ability to lead with integrity and balance the demands of being a high‑performing student‑athlete at the collegiate level

“Zach Cain has been a cornerstone of the SAIT Trojans program over the past three seasons, setting the standard for what it means to be a Trojan both on and off the ice. As captain, he leads by example every day, bringing consistency, professionalism, and a team-first mindset that drives the culture of the group.
While his impact on the ice is undeniable, it’s his character and commitment away from the rink that truly separates him. Cain has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his academics, balancing the demands of school and sport with discipline and focus. He approaches everything he does with purpose, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and staff alike.
Cain embodies what it means to be a Trojan—accountable, driven, and selfless. Whether it’s in the classroom, the locker room, or during competition, he sets the tone and raises the standard for those around him.” -Head Coach Tyler Drader

Zach is a third-year student-athlete from Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration.
