2026 ACAC Curling Charles Morter Memorial Award
Edmonton, AB (January 31, 2026)– The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Hannah Miller of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder Mixed Curling Team has been selected as the 2026 ACAC Charles Morter Curling Award recipient.
In her third season with the Thunder, Miller has distinguished herself as a leader both on and off the ice, consistently exemplifying the values of sportsmanship, dedication, and teamwork that define this prestigious honour. Playing the Third position, she brings steady performance, strong communication, and an unwavering commitment to her teammates. Known for her positive attitude and tireless work ethic, Miller consistently goes above and beyond to support team success, embodying the spirit of ACAC curling.
Beyond competition, Miller has been a cornerstone of team culture. When new curlers join the program, she is often the first to welcome them, offer guidance, and celebrate their accomplishments. Her kindness, encouragement, and leadership have helped foster a supportive and inclusive environment that elevates both individual and team performance.
“Hannah is the heart and soul of our mixed team,” said head coach Taina Smiley. “She leads by example with her selflessness, positivity, and commitment to others — whether that’s volunteering at the Thistle Curling Club, helping host the junior curling program, or lifting up her teammates and fellow ACAC curlers. She is a prime example of everything this award embodies.”
From Edmonton, Alberta, Miller is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Concordia University of Edmonton. Now in her third year with the Thunder, she continues to make a lasting impact through her leadership, dedication, and passion for the sport.
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2026 ACAC Curling Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac La Biche, Alberta.
