2025 ACAC Women's Basketball Coaches of The Year

North Female Coach of the Year | TOREY HILL | The King's Eagles:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Torey Hill of The King’s University has been selected as the 2024-2025 ACAC North Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Torey Hill has been a part of the ACAC as a player for five years, and a Coach for eight years. As a dominating post player, Torey won numerous All-Conference Awards as well as an All Canadian Award during her time playing for the NAIT Ooks, who not only were ACAC Champions but also went on to win bronze at the CCAA National Championships. As a Head Coach, Torey has already led the King’s Eagles program to a historic best with an 18-2 record. Torey was also an Associate Head Coach with Head Coach Brian Anstice last year when the Eagles won silver at the ACAC Championships, and qualified for their first ever trip to CCAA Nationals! In just her first year as Head Coach, Torey is the first King’s Women’s Basketball coach to win this award, and her team and family are incredibly proud of all that she has accomplished.
Coach Torey is described by her players as a strong, intelligent female athlete/coach and an incredible role model for young university student-athletes to look up to and follow. In her time at King’s she has created a culture of family where each and every player regardless of their role on the team, truly feels like they belong. The dedication, commitment and passion that Torey brings to this program is admirable, as she is always willing to go the ‘extra mile’ for every player. She has an ability to challenge players to grow and develop at a level that they are not always aware that they are capable of achieving. She has had a tremendous impact on the team and has been able to develop players into strong competitors, as well as great students and amazing people who graduate and go on to be confident leaders wherever God takes them in life. In the words of Coach Torey, “Be Strong. Be Together. Never Stop Pushing!”
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2025 ACAC Women’s Basketball Championship hosted by the King's Eagles in Edmonton, AB from February 28 - March 2, 2025.
South Female Coach of the Year | STEVE SHOULTS | SAIT Trojans:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Steve Shoults of the SAIT Trojans has been named the 2024-2025 ACAC South Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Steve Shoults has been named the ACAC South Coach of the Year for Women's Basketball after a remarkable season with the SAIT Trojans. Prior to joining SAIT, Shoults spent nine successful years with the St. Mary's University Lightning in Calgary. During his time at St. Mary's, he led the Lightning to post-season appearances in all nine seasons, securing the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Basketball championship in 2017-18.
In addition to this title, Shoults led the Lightning to two silver medals (2015-16, 2016-17) and two bronze medals (2019-20, 2021-22). His coaching excellence was recognized in 2015-16 when he was named the ACAC South Division Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Shoults has continued to bring his expertise and leadership to the Trojans this season, guiding them to a stellar 20-1 regular season record. His team dominated, winning by an average of 30 points per game, showcasing his exceptional ability to build a strong, competitive program.
