2024 ACAC Men's Soccer Players of The Year

Grande Prairie, AB (October 24, 2024) –

North Male Player of the Year | PETER JONES | NAIT Ooks:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Peter Jones of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2024 ACAC Men’s Soccer North Player of the Year.

Peter Jones has once again been named the ACAC North Men's Soccer Player of the Year, marking his second consecutive year winning the title. After another remarkable season with the NAIT Ooks, Jones solidified his reputation as one of the top players in the conference.

This season, Jones played in 11 of the 12 conference games, starting all 11, and was instrumental in both scoring and playmaking. He recorded three goals and five assists, amassing 11 points while taking 11 shots on goal. Jones also scored a crucial game-winning goal, further proving his ability to come through in decisive moments.

Jones' leadership and consistent excellence have been key to the Ooks' success, and his back-to-back Player of the Year titles highlight his significant impact on the team and the conference.

"I am delighted to see Peter win this award again. For me, and excuse the obvious bias, Peter is the most dominant player in this league, and I am thankful to my coaching colleagues for looking past the obvious goalscoring stats to reward a player who controls the game in and out of possession. Peter is that rare type of player who can take over a game, put the team on his back, and will the group to victory. Often asked to protect the backline and control the central area of the pitch, Peter has added goal-scoring to his repertoire and has somehow managed to elevate his game from last year. We are blessed to have him," said Head Coach Jeff Paulus.

Jones, a third-year Business Administration student, has made a lasting impact on both the ACAC and the NAIT Ooks men's soccer programs.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Soccer Championship hosted by Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

South Male Player of the Year | TESLOACH DAVID | SAIT Trojans:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Tesloach David of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2024 ACAC South Male Soccer Player of the Year.

Tesloach David, a second-year student-athlete on the SAIT Trojans Men's Soccer team, emerged as a pivotal leader during an exciting season for this young squad. Tes became an integral part of the Trojans' midfield, where his work ethic and dedication set a high standard for his teammates. With a point tally of 4—comprising a goal in a crucial must-win match against the Medicine Hat Rattlers and 2 assists—this might not fully capture his impact, as Tes's contributions on both sides of the ball were hard to overlook. His relentless energy, tactical awareness, and ability to read the game not only elevated his own performance but also inspired those around him to raise their games.

Throughout the season, Tes embraced his role as a mentor and motivator on a team comprised largely of younger players, fostering a culture of growth and resilience. He recognized the potential within the squad and believed that their youthful energy, combined with hard work and determination, could lead to significant achievements. As the Trojans sought to build on last year's regular season results, Tes remained committed to maintaining a standard of excellence, especially during critical moments in matches. His leadership extended beyond the field; he frequently set a standard for his teammates during training sessions, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communication. The blend of personal accountability and collective effort he championed reflected a promising trajectory for the Trojans. As the season progressed, the contributions of dedicated players like Tes played a crucial role in shaping the team’s journey and demonstrated that, despite their youth, they had the tenacity and talent to compete at the highest levels. Tes and his teammates refused to be deterred by the ups and downs of a fresh and emerging SAIT squad, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to their goals. Their ability to come together and support one another allowed them to turn adversity into growth, ultimately leading to a strong finish with a 6-3-1 record.

“Tesloach David balances technical skills and that vibrant energy that makes others want to play on his team. Another great year for Tes as he battles, pushes and moves the Trojans forward. Having seen Tes and his teammates on our pitch, practicing when they think no one is looking, leaves our Trojans team watching with pride as he helps build that culture of excellence and accountability that is so important both on and off the playing surface. We look forward to seeing how Tes continues to grow and develop during his time in the ACAC.” said SAIT Athletic Director, Wade Kolmel.
