Andy Hayher KC Appointed as New ACAC Commissioner
Edmonton, AB (August 12, 2024) - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Hayher KC as the new ACAC Commissioner. Andy is a Partner at Hayher Lee LLP in Calgary where he practices family law with a focus on appellate litigation. He will begin an initial 1-year appointment on August 15th in this contracted ACAC role.
Hayher, a former ACAC student-athlete and coach, brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to the role. His deep connection to post-secondary sport and the ACAC community alongside his legal expertise positions him to support the organization in ensuring adherence to rules and regulations.
Andy Hayher KC stated, "There are some very large shoes to fill replacing Bill Hendsbee KC in this role, however, I am looking forward to this new challenge and giving back to the ACAC."
Chief Executive Officer Mark Kosak said, "I had the opportunity to meet with Andy, where we discussed his appointment and the path forward. We are both excited about the possibilities this new role holds and confident in Andy's ability to excel as the ACAC Commissioner."
While Hayher transitions into the role of ACAC Commissioner, the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference simultaneously expresses profound gratitude to departing Commissioner Bill Hendsbee KC for his 19 years of dedicated service. Bill has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition by providing support and guidance to Hayher and the ACAC extends congratulations to Hendsbee on his new appointment as a Judge of the Alberta Court of Justice. The ACAC acknowledges Hendsbee's significant contributions and extends appreciation for his years of dedicated service.
It is anticipated that Hayher will contribute to the continued success of the ACAC celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024-2025.
