2022-23 ACAC Women's Cross-Country Rookie of the Year

2022-23 ACAC Women's Cross-Country Rookie of the Year

Edmonton, AB (November 2, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Rebecca Ross of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, has been selected as the 2022-23 ACAC Women’s Cross-Country Rookie of the Year.

Becky had an outstanding rookie season. In the four ACAC Grand Prix races she finished fourth, second, third and second. She followed that up with a fourth place finish in the ACAC Championship race helping her team to an ACAC title in only the Rattlers second year of competition.

According to Head Coach Bill Corcoran, “not all talent is found with graduating high school kids.  Sometimes asking someone who is running furiously up the College Avenue hill to come out and run with you pays off.  Champions are found in every neighbourhood.”

Becky, who attended McCoy High School in Medicine Hat, ran her first ever competitive race in April when she won the Rattler Run 10k event.  She is an amazing mom to her five-year-old and she is known to bake a pretty mean cookie.

This prestigious award was recognized at the 2022 ACAC Cross-Country Championship hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta.
