2022-23 ACAC Men's Golfer of The Year

Edmonton, AB (September 28, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Brodie Shields-Tyler of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year.

Shields-Tyler fired a tournament-low 67 on Sunday to capture the Men’s Individual title, which also helped SAIT’s mixed team earn the gold medal and his men’s team a silver medal. In that final round, Shields-Tyler did not record a score higher than four for the entire 18 holes of play. It is the first men’s individual win for SAIT since Scott Allan won two in a row in the fall of 1994 and 1995.

Last year, Shields-Tyler took the men’s individual bronze medal in what was a Covid-shortened season.

“Brodie has always displayed tremendous talent on the golf course, so to see him rewarded with the Player of the Year honour is special,” said Trojans Athletics and Recreation Manager, Wade Kolmel. “He played with two outstanding competitors from Medicine Hat College in the final round and was able to find his way to the top of the leaderboard when all was said and done. We are extremely proud of Brodie and all he has done for the SAIT Trojans golf program.”

Brodie Shields-Tyler is a Business Administration student from Calgary, Alta.

This prestigious award was recognized at the 2022 ACAC Golf Championship hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta.
