2022-23 ACAC Golf Coach of The Year

Edmonton, AB (September 28, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Larry Petryk of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder has been named the ACAC Golf Coach of the Year.

Petryk is wrapping up his third season as head coach of the Thunder golf program following taking over in the 2019-20 season. Always fielding a competitive team, Petryk claims his second ACAC Coach of the Year honours after guiding the Thunder to medals in the men’s, women’s, and mixed team events, and helping Ella Gifford win the individual women’s title. The experience Petryk brings from being a professional golfer and his other coaching endeavors allows him to help guide the Thunder golf team through the tough tournament grind. 

“We are extremely excited for Coach Petryk to receive this ACAC honour” commented Thunder Director of Athletics and Recreation Nate MacLellan. “His dedication to his athletes and helping them grow both on and off the course is evident and you’re seeing the results on the course. This is a great honour not only for Coach Petryk, but for the golf program as a whole.”

This prestigious award was recognized at the 2022 ACAC Golf Championship hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta.
