2021-22 ACAC Men’s Hockey Coach of The Year
Edmonton, AB (March 23, 2022) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Joey Bouchard of the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder has been named the ACAC Men’s Hockey Coach of the Year.
In his third season at the helm for the Thunder, Bouchard lead his team to an 11-3-2 record - setting a new Men’s Hockey program record at CUE for win percentage (.688). This season, Bouchard had the Thunder special teams clicking; putting up the ACAC’s best penalty kill (88.3%), second best power play (23.9), and led the league in shorthanded goals for. Since taking over in 2019, Bouchard has managed to drastically improve the hockey program, improving from a 6th place finish in 2019-20 to the 2nd place finish this year.
“Joey has continued his great work leading the Thunder hockey program to success both on and off the ice. He is a great mentor for our student-athletes, who are succeeding both in their academics and on-ice performances. I’m excited to have Joey continue to lead our men’s hockey program, and to see the new heights he can lead them to. This award is a testament to how hard Joey works and the passion he brings every day. Congratulations Joey on this incredible acknowledgement!”
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Men’s Hockey Championship.
