2021-22 ACAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Year

Edmonton, AB (March 10, 2022)

North Player of The Year:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Tori Dugan of the Lakeland Rustlers has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Year, sponsored by Vereburn Medical Supplies.

In the 2021 – 22 season Dugan averaged 13.9 ppg, and shot 41.1 FG percentage, 43.2 3pt percentage and 73.5 percent from the free throw line leading her team to a perfect 16-0 regular season. She led the ACAC in assists, assist/turnover ratio and in three-point shooting percentage.

"Tori has developed into the undisputed leader of our team and mentor for the younger Rustlers," commented Chris King Lakelands's head coach. "Tori is also a role model to a generation of future basketball players in the Lloydminster area where she has coached several camps and teaches in a basketball academy.  

Dugan hails from Perth, Australia, and is completing her 5th year of eligibility. She will move on from Lakeland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  In her five years of playing for the Rustlers, she has led the team to a 98-14 regular season record, two undefeated seasons, an ACAC Bronze Medal in 2019, and the programs first ACAC Gold Medal in 2020. Tori will be continuing her playing career in New Zealand as she recently signed a division 1 pro contract.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Women's Basketball Championship hosted by Lakeland College in Lloydminster, Alberta.

 

South Player of The Year:

 The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Kate Rozdeba of the Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC women's basketball south Player of the Year, sponsored by Vereburn Medical Supplies.

Kate, who led her team to an 8-8 record on the season, put together a dominant season individually.  She led the ACAC in total points, points per game, total rebounds, both offensively and defensively, rebounds per game and minutes played per game.  For her accomplishments, she was named a first team all-star and was player of the game several times throughout the season.

Terry Ballard, Manager of Athletics and Recreation, said "Kate has been such an important part of the Rattlers women's basketball team for the last 4 years, and it's so great to see her rewarded for her hard work. Kate is the epitome of a Rattler student-athlete; she is an outstanding athlete, a very strong student and someone who continually gives back to the community. Congratulations Kate on such a terrific Rattlers career."

Kate, from Medicine Hat, AB has been a part of her hometown team for five years. She is a strong student who will graduate this year with a degree in education.  Kate, a stellar high school athlete, finishes her ACAC career as a two time All Star who improved each year that she played. Congratulations Kate on being named the 2021-22 ACAC South Player of the Year.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Women's Basketball Championship hosted by Lakeland College in Lloydminster, Alberta.
