North Player of The Year:

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Shae McIntyre of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year (Sponsored by Volleyball Alberta).

This season, Shae McIntyre had an outstanding year for the NAIT Ooks and was a stabilizing force both in the front and backcourt. Standing at just over 6 foot 5, the left-side hitter was relied upon on a nightly basis for timely kills, precise passing, and elite level outside blocking. Shae led the ACAC North Division with a stellar 4.2 points per set while also being 2nd in the ACAC North in Kills per set, earning 3.38/set on a balanced Ooks offense.

NAIT Ooks Men's Volleyball head coach says, "Shae is an extremely competitive athlete that demands excellence from himself every day he steps on the court. He consistently brings intensity into the gym, which is infectious to others. Great players in the sport are said to be able to make others around them better, and Shae did just that this year for the Ooks, leading them to an ACAC best, 14-2 record."

Growing up, McIntyre was a wildly recognized multisport athlete, proficient in both volleyball and basketball. In his youth, the local Edmonton product was a member of the Team Alberta Beach programs, dominating in the sand, prior to joining the University of Alberta Golden Bears Volleyball team for the 2018-2019 U-Sport season. Now a proud Ook, his work ethic shows on and off the court; the third-year Forest Technology student's demeanor and presence are symbolic of what it means to be a student-athlete at NAIT, as he continues to contribute to the Ooks Men's Volleyball strong tradition of excellence.

This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2022 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship hosted by NAIT in Edmonton, Alberta.
