Cristian Lima Honoured as 2021-22 ACAC Men's Soccer North Player of the Year

OCTOBER 28 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Cristian Lima of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Men's Soccer North Player of the Year.

Cristian Lima had an outstanding season with the NAIT Ooks leading them to a 5-0-1 record in the North division. Lima, a third-year Electrical Engineering student from Carapicuiba, Sao Paolo, was top in the league for both assists and overall points. He garnered an impressive six goals and nine assists which led him to amass 21 points this season. Lima started all six regular-season games and was an offensive threat with a .750 shot percentage on the season.

NAIT Ooks men's soccer head coach Charles O'Toole had the following to say about his player.

"Cristian Lima is one of the most talented players to come through the NAIT Men's Soccer program. His vision, creativity, and just out and out natural-born skill make him a truly outstanding player. He has the ability to take control of a game and is a game-changer. Be it through either setting up his teammates or by scoring a goal himself." He went on to talk about Lima's ability not only on the field but in the dressing room as well, "Cristian brings that maturity and drive to the team. He sets a standard not only for himself but for his teammates. He has grown over these last couple of seasons into a team leader, giving talks in the dressing room, encouraging his teammates who may be struggling, always giving his best in everything he does."

Lima and the NAIT Ooks play this weekend in the 2021 ACAC men's soccer championship game at home against the SAIT Trojans.
