Red Deer, AB (Nov. 1, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Matthew Travaglini of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Men's Cross-Country Running Player of the Year.  The award is sponsored by The Running Room who has provided a generous student-athlete scholarship.

Travaglini finished first in every ACAC Grand Prix event he ran in this season, leading his team to multiple men's team titles along the way. At Saturday's ACAC Cross-Country Running Championship, he continued that work, winning the men's 8km race and helping his Trojans men's team to their second consecutive gold medal at the event. As well as being named Men's Runner of the Year Travaglini was also named as an ACAC All-Conference selection.

"Matt has been an amazing addition to the team this year. He is a humble leader with an amazing work ethic," said Trojans co-head coach, Bre MacEachern. "He leads by example, in the sense that his teammates see how hard he works and obviously what an amazing runner he is, and they strive to work harder themselves. He is a great motivator, and we cannot wait to see what he will achieve at Nationals."
