Helland-Hansen Honoured as 2016-17 ACAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year

RED DEER, AB (Feb. 22, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Isak Helland-Hansen of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers has been selected as the 2016-17 ACAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.  This prestigious award was presented to Helland-Hansen at the 2017 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship Brunch held on February 22nd at Red Deer College.

Helland-Hansen had an outstanding season on the court, finishing league play with 202 kills (2.69 k/s), 125 digs (1.67 d/s) and 37 service aces (0.49 sa/s).

"Isak is a quiet person who leads by example and is committed to excellence in academics and his play on the court", says Head Coach Mark Porter.

Isak Helland-Hansen, a 6'1' outside hitter hails from Oystese, Hordaland, Norway.  He is in his third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science – Ecotourism program at Medicine Hat College.  This is the second consecutive year that Helland-Hansen has won this prestigious award.  During the 2015-16 season, he was also named an ACAC All-Star and a CCAA All-Canadian. 

Helland-Hansen will now represent the ACAC as the CCAA Player of the Year nominee for the Conference.
