Keyra Buziak, Lakeland Rustlers, Women's Hockey
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After a record setting regular season, Keyra Buziak continued to light the lamp in the playoffs.
The third year forward, hot off leading the league in scoring, kept producing for the top-seeded Lakeland Rustlers, including in the ACAC Finals. Facing three straight elimination games, Buziak scored two goals in games 3 and 4, including the winner in each, helping to force a game 5. There, Lakeland completed the comeback with a 1-0 overtime victory to win their second straight ACAC Gold.
She was awarded Finals MVP for her performance, adding to a pile of accolades, including Women's Hockey Player of the Year. The top scorer in the ACAC, Buziak set a record for most goals in a season (28) and tied the record for points (43). That excellence stems from consistent play throughout the season.
Keyra Buziak hails from North Battleford, Saskatchewan and is in her third year at Lakeland College, taking the Crop Technology program.
