Mariam Hamaoui, Augustana Vikings, Women's Soccer

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

After just a few games in her rookie season, Mariam has already made a name for herself as one of the brightest new stars on the Augustana Vikings Women’s Soccer team. Her impact was felt immediately as she helped secure the Vikings’ first win of the season with a crucial goal against Olds College. She then followed that performance with another game-winning strike, netting the lone goal for the Vikings in a hard-fought battle against the Lethbridge Kodiaks. Thanks to her back-to-back performances, Mariam earned her team four points in two days and cemented herself as a key offensive threat.

“We’re so excited for the success Mariam has found as a first-year Viking,” said Dave Ritz, Business and Operations Manager of the Vikings. “Her addition to the team has immediately elevated the Women’s Soccer program’s offense. I’m looking forward to seeing her growth on the pitch throughout her time at Augustana.”

Her early success in the ACAC is only part of her incredible journey. Off the field, Mariam has earned the opportunity to represent her heritage on the international stage, being named to the roster of the U-19 Lebanese National Team. This prestigious selection is a testament to her hard work, skill, and dedication to the game, and it marks another exciting step in what is shaping up to be a remarkable soccer career.

With her combination of talent, drive, and international experience, Mariam is quickly proving that her first season as a Viking is only the beginning of something special.
