Lauren Cardinal, Augustana Vikings, Women's Basketball

Helping the team advance to just their second CCAA National Championship in team history, and only the fourth Vikings court sport, Lauren Cardinal was a force all week at Nationals.

Facing off against the OCAA Champions, Humber Hawks in the quarterfinal, Cardinal gathered up 11 rebounds, nine of which were defensive, had 11 points and five steals in the team hard fought loss.

In the bronze medal quarterfinal, Cardinal was stellar once again in the team 80-68 win over the MSVU Mystics with 11 rebounds, 12 points and six assists as the team moved on the the bronze medal semifinal.

Outdoing herself once again, Cardinal had 10 rebounds , 20 points, three assists, and two steals against the Dawson Blue to cap of an excellent season, tournament and post-secondary career for the senior player who wore the red, white and black for two season following two years as a Red Deer Queen.

To further sweeten the year, Cardinal's efforts earned her a spot as CCAA Second Team Tournament All-Star.
