Vermilion, AB (Oct. 27, 2018) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Matthew Travaglini of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2018-19 ACAC Men's Cross-Country Running Runner of the Year.
It is the second-straight year which Travaglini was named Runner of the Year, also earning the award last season. The fourth-year runner from London, Ont., won every Grand Prix race he entered this season, capping off his year with his second consecutive ACAC Men's Cross-Country Running Championships individual title at the event hosted by Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alta.
"Matthew has shown once again that hard work and dedication to your craft pays off. To see him rewarded with this honour is very nice to see," says Wade Kolmel, SAIT Trojans Athletics and Recreation Director. "We are proud of how he represents not only his team, but our school as a whole."
Travaglini will now defend the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national title he won last year on Nov. 10 at the National Championship, hosted by Seneca College just outside Toronton. He a Geomatics Engineering Technology student at SAIT.
This prestigious award was presented to Travaglini at the 2018 ACAC Men's Cross Country Championship held on October 27 at Lakeland College.
