Briercrest wins defensive battle

While it may not have been the cleanest or prettiest game of volleyball with huge kills and big blocks, the 2 teams that had the longest trip to Calgary fought hard to advance to the semifinals.  Even though Briercrest was heavily favored going into the match, GPRC didn't let that phase them.

The first set saw Briercrest squeak out a win 26-24, thanks to a great start by Becky Garner (POG), picking up 7 kills in the 1st.  She would go on to have 22 through the 4 sets.  GPRC relied heavily on their top attacker Megan Koch in the first set as well, but only managed 2 kills.

Briercrest would win the first 2 sets and however, GPRC would not go down without a fight as they came back to win the 3rd 25-20.

To close the 4th set both teams went on some crazy runs, as first Briercrest would stretch their 14-10 lead 19-10.  When it looked like Briercrest had it all wrapped up, GPRC would go on a run of their own coming back to tie it up at 19.  Briercrest would come back to take all the momentum after a Weinmaster timeout to win 25-19.   Wolves libero Kelsie Dukart would go on to receive their player of the game thanks to 36 digs.
