Ambrose Wins Marathon Match vs Briercrest

For nearly 2.5 hours, Ambrose and Briercrest fought tooth and nail to come out victorious this Friday night.   Briercrest was able to jump out to an early lead both in the 1st set (7-2), but also in the match as they were able to win the first 2 games, 27-25, 25-23.  Ambrose had 2 "set points" to close out the first game but were not able to put Briercrest away.   Being down 2 sets is never a position you hope to be in, however the Lions could take solace in the fact that they lost the first 2 games by the slimmest of margins.   The 3rd and 4th sets were not much different than the first 2, however when it counted, late in the set, Ambrose this time capitalized on hitting errors by Briercrest and were able to get the match tied a 2 sets a piece.  In the 5th set, tied at 10-10, Briercrest was forced to substitute their starting setter, Ashley Erickson (believed to be due to illness).   This hiccup in Briercrest's plan was able to send, Ambrose on a 5-0 run to close out the game.   Players of the game were for Briercrest, Justine Collin and for Ambrose, Sarah Janz received recognition.
