Van Dyke and Queens sweep Broncos in Olds

Olds, AB - With Jade Van Dyke's 8 kills, the Red Deer College Queens swept the Olds College Broncos (25-18, 25-20 and 25-21) on the road, winning their third consecutive match.

Chris Wandler, Queens Head Coach, appreciated Van Dyke's ability to step up with one key RDC student-athlete out of the line-up. "Jade was solid tonight and was all around the court," says Wandler. "With Britt Davis out with an injury, Jade filled in a ball control role and was clutch down the stretch with some solid points at the net."

Van Dyke, a fourth-year outside hitter, was selected as the Queens Player-of-the-Game. The Bachelor of Science Nursing student totaled 8 kills, 7 digs and 6 service aces, while hitting for 42.9 per cent efficiency.

As a team, the Queens applied multiple waves of service pressure, recording 14 service aces. First-year outside hitter Sydney Rix had 4 aces.

Along with Van Dyke's 8 kills, Emma Holmes picked up 6 and Rix had 5. Setter Natalie Bloemen accumulated 17 assists, 4 digs and 3 kills in the Queens' victory.

On Friday, November 9, the RDC Queens (4-5) will host the Olds College Broncos (0-7) at 6:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
