First place Kodiaks take road game over Queens

Red Deer, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks had their offence rolling Saturday afternoon against the Red Deer College Queens. The Kodiaks struck four times in the first half and added a trio in the latter 45 minutes, taking a 7-0 road win.

Kodiaks midfielder Olivia DePasquale opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Then Lethbridge College Massage Therapy student Christine Moser scored twice in a six minute span. The third-year midfielder from Whitehorse found the top part of the net in the 29th minute and added another one in the 35th minute. Before the end of the half, Vicki Noronha tacked on the Kodiaks' fourth.

In the second half, Kodiaks Khloe Jankowski and Vicki Noronha scored 13 minutes apart. With time expiring, Vicki Noronha completed the hat trick and Lethbridge College picked up a 7-0 decision.

Queens goalkeeper Riley DeRaaf made eight saves. Michaela Stone and Paige Gattafoni shared the duties in the Kodiaks' net, and collectively had one shot to turn aside.

Bachelor of Science student Rebecca McBride was named the Collegiate Sports Medicine Queens Player-of-the-Game. Christine Moser received the honour for the Kodiaks.

On Sunday, October 20, the Queens (4-7-0) will entertain the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (4-4-3) at RDC Main Field at noon in the final regular season game. At the same time, the Kodiaks (8-1-2) will play an away game against the U of A Augustana Vikings (6-5-0).
