CALGARY, AB (Oct. 25, 2018) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that Deanna Kuan of the SAIT Trojans women's soccer team, has been selected as the 2018 ACAC Player of the Year Sponsored by the Alberta Soccer Association.
SAIT Trojans women's soccer player Deanna Kuan made school history on Thursday night.
At the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's and Women's Soccer Championship banquet at SAIT, the third-year midfielder was named the ACAC's Women's Soccer Player of the Year – becoming the first Trojans women's soccer player to earn the award since it was first handed out in the fall of 2004.
"She is one of the most talented defensive midfielders I have ever seen," said Trojans head coach, John Talerico. "She is the epitome of practice makes perfect, as she has a work ethic second to none."
Kuan, who just two years ago was named the ACAC's Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year, helped her team to a perfect 12-0 season that granted them a bye into this weekend's semifinals on Saturday morning.
Defensively, Kuan controls the game by stifling the opposing team's attack, while also turning it into chances for her own side.
