October 21, 2018 – The Kodiaks kicked off their final game of the regular season at home against the Lakeland Rustlers, stealing a 1-0 victory to end the Rustlers year.
The first half started off slow with both teams struggling to build momentum and a series of injuries. Ultimately Kodiaks Kayla Kehoe broke open the game in the final minutes of the half with a pass from Jasmin Salmon to give the Kodiaks a 1-0 advantage heading into the second half.
The Kodiaks started out the second half hot with a series of substitutions to get some fresh talent on the field but the Rustler defence was ready to make them work for it. Brooklin Bellavance went bar down for the Kodiaks but Rustler goal keeper Kiera Sunderland managed the save.
Kehoe had the next chance, crushing a shot into the net, but her goal was called off due to a Kodiaks off-side call, finishing out the game with the Kodiaks 1-0 victory.
The game wrapped up with a tribute to Kodiaks fifth year player Aimee Santangelo, as well as Rustlers fifth year player, Ashley Miller.
With this victory, the Kodiaks finish out the season with a record of 6-4-2 and move on to the post-season, while the Rustler finish with a 2-9-1 record.
