Trojans Slay Vikings, Capture ACAC Bronze

EDMONTON, ALTA. - The SAIT Trojans defeated the Augustana Vikings 3-1 in the bronze medal game of the 2019 Sutton Place Hotel ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship.

The Trojans showed up ready to play as they crushed the Vikings in the opening set 25-11. Augustana attempted to weather the attack of the Trojans in the second set but were unsuccessful as they fell to SAIT 25-22. In the third set, the Vikings were able to avoid the sweep taking the set 25-23, bringing the match to 2-1.

"We weren't necessarily playing for a bronze medal, we discussed what our motivation was this morning. We wanted to send guys off on a good note. We wanted to have fun. This was also one last chance for us to improve. So after that third set we just reminded them of that, and not to stray away from their motivation," said Trojans head coach, Sean McKay.

That would be it for the Vikings though, as the Trojans responded in the fourth set with another commanding victory grabbing the set 25-17 and a bronze medal.
